Tag

How do I receive my tag?

Your tag will be posted in a sealed anti-static bag with a Tag Installation Guide and account information. We advise you to keep your antistatic bag. If you take your tag off the windscreen, gently slip it off the holder and seal it in the antistatic bag to avoid any reads.

Where do I install my tag?

Fix it to the inside of your windscreen using the adhesive strip provided. For cars and vans, the tag should be mounted in the centre top of the windscreen, behind the rear view mirror. For vehicles equipped with a Moisture Sensor Windscreen, it is important that you place your tag on the black dots that are located behind or around your rear view mirror. For commercial vehicles, the tag should be mounted in the centre bottom of the windscreen.

For more information, please refer to the Tag Installation Guide, available on www.easytrip.ie

Why should I install my tag on the windscreen?

It is important that you install your tag correctly on the windscreen of your vehicle to ensure that it is detected by the electronic system at the toll plazas or car parks. If you wave your tag or don't install your tag correctly on the windscreen, your tag may not be read at the toll roads or car parks.

Tags cannot be read through metal, and in the majority of vehicles there are moisture controlled windscreens. This means that metal is in your windscreen to prevent condensation building up on it. On most windscreens there is an area of black dots under the rear view mirror. This is the only area that there is no metal. Your tag should be installed on this black dots area.

Optionally you should check your car manual for any other exceptional instructions than recommended by easytrip.

Who should I contact if my tag is lost?

If your tag is lost or stolen please contact us immediately as you are responsible for all charges on your account up to the time of notification. Once notified, your tag will be suspended. Outside office hours you can mark your tag as lost by accessing you account online at www.easytrip.ie using your account number and password. Please note that there is a charge of €15.25 (VAT. Inclusive)  if your tag is lost or stolen (hired tags only). If your tag is recovered and returned to us in good working order within 21 days, easytrip will refund the full amount of €15.25 on your account. If you purchased your tag, there is no lost/stolen tag fee. However if you need a replacement tag, you will have to purchase new unit for €30.49.

I'm an easytrip customer and I have another tag issuers in my vehicle. I have been charged twice for the same toll, how do I get a refund?

It is the toll plazas that determine the toll. If you have been charged twice you will need to inform the plaza to determine which of the charges should be cancelled. Again, we strongly recommend that users should not have more than one tag in their vehicle at any given time.

eFlow Fines

Why would I receive eFlow notices?

Fines are issued by eFlow, the road operator of the M50. Below the reasons why a registered tag customer can receive a STR (Standard Toll Request) from eFlow:

  • Your account was suspended when journey was made on the M50 or
  • You did not have the tag registered for vehicle specified on the bill when journey was made on the M50 or
  • easytrip tag was not read by Free Flow system (reasons: tag positioned incorrectly, faulty battery ) at the time specified on the bill and vehicle registration specified on the bill is not registered to the account against the tag or
  • You did not have the tag registered to the account against vehicle specified on the bill when journey was made on the M50

How can I cancel eFlow notices?

As an easytrip customer, you are not liable for any penalties for unpaid toll on the M50 once the vehicle is registered on our database and has a tag assigned on the account and account is in credit.

In order to cancel eFlow fines and transfer all unpaid M50 tolls to an easytrip account you need to contact easytrip to activate (top up) the account and/ or amend vehicle details on easytrip database. You can update your vehicle details on www.easytrip.ie from your account login section. Following this contact, you can submit a "Notice Cancellation Request" with eFlow to dispute the fine.

Notice Cancellation Request can be made online:

1. Go to www.eflow.ie

2. In Notice Cancellation section (top right corner or left menu of Eflow home page), click on 'have a tag already'

3. On the next page, select 'Registered User Cancellation' orange box

4. You will have to fill in the Registered User Cancellation Request. The following information will be required:

  • Journey Reference Number
  • Name of the company
  • Tag account number
  • Contact telephone
  • Contact email
  • Tag number
  • Vehicle license plate number

5. Click on 'Submit form'

eFlow will check your details with easytrip. If the fine is cancelled, eFlow will transfer the toll charge to your easytrip account within a few days period. Your account has to be in credit when submitting the notice cancellation.

Please note that there is a charge of €1.02 (VAT. Inclusive) for each M50 penalty notice cancelled.

Toll Service

There are messages on the VMS signs at the toll plazas. What do they mean?

Valid Tag - this means your account is in credit and you may proceed.

Invalid Tag - there is a problem with your account and you must contact easytrip directly. You must pay in cash or by other means as your tag will not allow you the passage. Please note toll operators or car parking hosts do not have access to your account and cannot provide any account information to you.

Low Balance Warning - this means you have reached your low balance level and your account is about to be credited with your agreed top up amount.

What should I do when I get to the toll plaza?

Please follow the signs displaying the eToll symbol and proceed slowly to the barrier. Please note that the speed limit is 60km/hour. Any vehicle travelling faster than this will be ejected from the lane and a speeding fine will be issued.

easytrip tags are accepted in all lanes at all Toll roads.

The Dublin Port Tunnel has six lanes in both directions (one lane is bi-directional). Electronic toll is available in every lane displaying the eToll sign. Please note that the two outside lanes at the DPT are for heavy goods vehicles only, car drivers CANNOT use these lanes.

When travelling through the M50 barrier free location please ensure that your tag is correctly fixed to the windscreen of your vehicle and that your vehicle registration is correct on your account. The M50 barrier free tolling system will detect your tag.

What does eToll mean?

eToll is the national symbol for electronic tolling. Whenever you see this symbol your tag will be accepted.

Why will my tag not read?

Tags will not read for the following reasons: insufficient funds, lost or stolen tags, account closed, battery failure in the tag, or a system failure.

What happens if my tag doesn't read at a plaza?

As we do not operate the roads/car parks, should your tag fail to read you will fall under the policy of the road or car park operator and be asked to pay by other means, such as cash or credit card. To minimise the chances of your tag not reading:

1. Approach the toll barrier more slowly and cautiously than normal, to ensure your tag is read and charged correctly and accurately.

2. Make sure your tag has the proper holder and is mounted correctly inside your vehicle.

3. Do not wave your tag when approaching the plaza.

On the M50, if your tag fails to read, the vehicle registration will be used to identify your vehicle as an easytrip customer. It is therefore important to have the correct vehicle registration assigned to your tag. Please check What should I Do If I Change my Vehicle? for more information on vehicle details updates.

If your tag fails to read, contact us. We will test your tag and give you a replacement if required.

What does my tag beep at the toll plazas?

On certain tag models there is a beep sound to indicate that your tag has been detected. Not all models of tags have this noise. If your tag beeps this is not an indication of payment.
